|Tandoor's menu, printed in English and Chinese, really whet our appetites, featuring dishes familiar to those who enjoy Indian food and explaining well the less familiar dishes. The food here is based on North Indian cuisine, but also has dishes such as vindaloo and biryani representing other parts of the subcontinent. We ordered a mango lassi, which tasted faintly of cardamom, and a cold Kingfisher.|
We wanted to try more of the vegetarian items so started with some pakoras, which were nicely fried in a spicy chick pea flour batter and went beautifully with the sauces that were served alongside. The dal makhani (lentils in a creamy sauce) had a rougher texture than we usually find in this dish, but was still delicious. The palak paneer was nice and thick, though had just a few chunks of paneer. The vegetable biryani had lots of vegetables, but little seasoning. The roti was crisp and the pungent garlic naan was totally addictive. The chicken tikka masala had a generous amount of chicken in a spicy red sauce. An order of kulfi (dense Indian-style ice cream) to finish did a great job of taming the spiciness.
The server said we could order anything spicier, and I would probably make a point of doing so if I went back. However, we had to work pretty hard to get the servers' attention when we needed water or wanted to order more items.
The Tandoor is beautiful inside and would work very well as a business or occasion restaurant if the service was a bit more welcoming and accommodating. You would expect to pay between 100 and 150 per person. Speeding home after this dinner in a san lun che made us feel like we were back in Delhi, riding on a three-wheeled auto with the breeze on our faces.

The food and ambience is created fresh daily. The Indian chef takes good care to make his food deliciously authentic. Things can get up there (40+RMB), but it’s worth the great food and service. English menu available.
