This wholesale cake shop on Jianshe South 1st Road is a place for cheesecake lovers. The flavours on hand the day we visited were marble, New York, French (lemon), blueberry, tiramisu, chocolate, and green tea. They use Anchor brand cream cheese from New Zealand, which impresses us, and sell cheesecake for 8-10 yuan per piece. They have both Western style baked cheesecakes and the Oriental style cakes that are more like mousse layered with sponge. After sampling six flavours, we liked the New York style and French best, with blueberry an honourable mention. The marble cheesecake, which had the firmness and dryness of its namesake, was not really a re-order. The matcha cheesecake was nice for those who like the lighter style mousse cakes, but our tastes run to cheesecake with a bit more body.
Most of their business is order out but there are a few briskly air-conditioned tables where customers can enjoy a piece of cake with lemon or pomelo tea. It’s too bad they don’t serve coffee because the sweet stuff needs it, but they will do an unsweetened black tea on request. There is also a short, characters only, menu of sandwiches and fried rice for a whopping 6 to 8 yuan per order. We are interested in trying the bacon and egg fried rice next time we are in, or the bacon and cheese sandwich.
